Just a word of warning: Beware that you yourself are not causing this. It is not always easy to set someone free of old roles and projections, and set yourself free of basing judgments upon those roles and projections. If you have needed things to be different, be sure that they are not different in reality before your sweeping begins.
Make sure your present decision are based on the present and not on a past that is no longer applicable.

My initial response to that comment was anger. But, I will think about it and get back to you. Although, I am fairly sure I am not doing what you suggest -- based on the information I actually have there is no reason for me to think the present is anything other than I think it is. Am I basing my views of the present on old roles and projections from the past? Yes, I am, in part. But, I do not believe that is incorrect in this case because there is little to indicate to me that things are otherwise. So, perhaps better to say not that I am basing my judgment on past roles, but that I am calling roles as I see them based on the present and ::shrug:: if they happen to come up called the same as they were in the past, that is not me being mistaken.
But. I will think about it.
